This week in Reception, we have been having some fun eating pancakes and trying some different toppings like maple syrup and honey! In class, we have been speaking about healthy and unhealthy choices and the children have been sorting the foods. Here is a catchy song to sing about fruit and vegetables;
In maths, we have been focusing on the numbers 6, 7 and 8 and have been exploring the number bonds of these numbers by using practical objects such as ten frames and counters.

The children have been busy practising their nativity songs for our big performance on Friday 12th December. Coming up next week on Thursday 18th December is our Christmas dinner and Jumper day. The children have enjoyed making hats, cards and wish lists. Singing songs and listening to stories. Our Christmas parties will take place on the Wednesday 17th December. The children can wear their own clothes.

Please continue to go over these letter sounds to support your children in using them confidently and securely. This will enable their reading and writing. Don’t forget to use your online library at Big Cat ebooks – your username and password can be found in your child’s reading record.

Maths Autumn Term
We have been learning to count, recognise and work within numbers from 0 to 20. Below you will find some links to helpful videos and websites to support your child’s continuous learning.
Shapes are everywhere! To support your child’s ongoing learning, you can challenge them to Shape Hunt the environment – can you see a circle, square, triangle, rectangle? What shape is the bus stop sign? How many sides does the square have? Can you see another shape like it?
