This week in Year 5

This week in Year 5 we have continued to study WW1, this week we have written our first draft of our balanced arguments and the outcomes are positive.

In Maths we have begun to look at fractions, all the children have been sent home with login details for Timestables Rockstars which the year 5 team highly recommend for the improving of multiplication skills. These skills will continue to be essential for year 5 and 6 maths and all children have room for improvement in this area.

We continue to practise for the upcoming Christmas performance which will take place on Wednesday the 13th December.

This Friday we enjoyed a trip to the Tate Modern to see El Anatsui’s Behind the Red Moon installation in the Turbine Hall. (photos to follow next week)

A Wriggly Nativity

Wriggly nativity, wriggly nativity!

Somehow you’ve just got to move:

It’s a wriggly nativity.

Can you feel the thrill?
Can you feel the thrill?

Glory, glory, what a story!

No-one’s sitting still!

Wriggly nativity, wriggly nativity!

Somehow you’ve just got to move:

It’s a wriggly nativity.

Donkey Plodding

Ee-or!

Donkey plodding, donkey plodding

Move your weary bones.

Donkey plodding, donkey plodding

Over rocks and stones.

Or-ee-or, ee-or, ee-or,

Never ever moans

Donkey plodding all day long.

Ee-or!

Carry gentle Mary,

Carry gentle Mary,

All the way to Bethlehem.

Ee-or!

Ee-or!

Donkey plodding, donkey plodding

Move your weary bones.

Donkey plodding, donkey plodding

Over rocks and stones.

Or-ee-or, ee-or, ee-or,

Never ever moans

Donkey plodding all day long.

Ee-or!

Joseph walks beside you,

Joseph walks beside you,

All the way to Bethlehem.

Ee-or!

Knock On Another Door

We’ve got no room, we must confess

We can’t take any more.

We’ve got no room, so we suggest

You knock on another door!

Rat-a-tat! Rat-a-tat! Rat-a-tat-a-tat!

Any room for a couple

With nowhere else to stay?
Any room for a couple

Who come from far away?

We’ve got no room, we must confess

We can’t take any more.

We’ve got no room, so we suggest

You knock on another door!

Rat-a-tat! Rat-a-tat! Rat-a-tat-a-tat!

Any room for a lady

Whose baby’s nearly due?
Any room for a lady

We don’t know what to do!

We’ve got no room, we must confess

We can’t take any more.

We’ve got no room, so we suggest

You knock on another door!

Rat-a-tat! Rat-a-tat! Rat-a-tat-a-tat!

This week in nursery our little explorers have been on an exciting journey through the pages of the enchanting book, “How to Catch a Star” by Oliver Jeffers. This week was filled with wonder and discovery as we delved into the world of the determined little boy who dreams of catching a star. We carried out lots of activities in class which the children were engrossed in! The children made a spaceship out of tower blocks in order to catch a star, they enjoyed making treasure boxes to put their stars in, they enjoyed playing with play-dough and creating different shapes/objects using their fine motor skills. We are so proud of our little learners. They are all shining stars in the nursery classroom!

At home you can continue their learning by asking what happened in the story, where might we see stars and role play the story by providing some easy cut up props.

Thank you for your continued support.

The Nursery Team.

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am very pleased to invite you to our Nativity 2023. We will be celebrating Christmas by singing lots of special songs for you.

Please join us on:

 Monday 18th December at 10:00am

If you would prefer your child not to participate, please speak with your Class Teacher. Alternative arrangements will be made for children who do not wish to join in.

We look forward to seeing as many of your faces as possible at our Christmas show.
