Learning Across the Curriculum: 

Shang Dynasty (1766 – 1046 BC)

This term our Learning Across the Curriculum topic is The Shang Dynasty. We will be exploring the achievements of this ancient Chinese civilisation, including when and where it was located.

Children will be exploring various artefacts from this time period and asking historically valid questions.  They will be able to sequence events during the Shang Dynasty chronologically.

We would encourage children (with your support) to have a go at completing one task every week.

Maths: Addition and Subtraction

We have continued to work on subtracting 3 and 4 – digit numbers including making exchanges in different columns.

To support the understanding of exchanges and make sure children feel secure when moving onto the column method, we have been using place value charts with base ten blocks or place value counters. These help the children to practically carry out the exchanges.
